Today I was talking with a friend about her favorite places around town:
“There’s so many interesting things downtown I’d love to do. I avoid downtown though because of all the one-way streets.”
Wow.
That got me thinking how on the surface moving in one direction seems smart, efficient and in the public’s best interest. One-way movement with positive intent.
Yet when moving in the same direction, you continually see things from the same perspective. Sometimes missing nuggets of opportunity. Nuggets worthy of discovery.
Perhaps it’s time to convene your own internal city council permitting your perfectly, perfect thoughts and ideas to flow in multiple directions. To discover those nuggets that can only be seen from a new direction. Beep beep!

Oh, yes! Never thought of it this way, but I’ve experienced this while walking down a one way street the opposite way. Saw things I hadn’t noticed before. Imagine what might happen if we allowed our brains to do this? Thank you, Linda!

I think that’s the trick – to allow our brains to do this – the world has so much to offer when we get out of our routines and allow our brain to wonder as well!

I once heard a sermon from a Lutheran pastor who took a different route to the church every day of the year, sometimes going miles out of his way to do so. He not only saw the city in a new way, he also saw the congregation differently as well.
